For the third year in a row, the course will take runners over the Manhattan Bridge and up the FDR Drive before a crosstown dash on 42nd Street and a turn north on 7th Avenue, through Times Square, and into Central Park. *Fundraising for 26.2 Foundation

*Race Christian is running – Boston Marathon 2020 – April 20, 2020

In 2020, I will be running two iconic marathon challenge: Boston 2 Big Sur. My last challenge had me complete the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors races in 3 years. That’s 2 a year. So, for my next challenge, I will tackle 2 marathons on 2 different coasts in 6 days by running the Boston Marathon on April 20th and then the Big Sur Marathon on April 26th. I am asking for your support with a donation to my Boston Marathon charity, the 26.2 Foundation. The charity is focused on developing programs and a museum to the experience (and craziness!) that is the marathon.
Challenges aside, the reason why I run is pretty simple. After a short stint as a successful age-group triathlete, I developed some medical issues that kept me out of the pool in 2010. By 2015, I decided to get back into shape and committed myself to running and marathoning. To say that decision changed everything is an understatement. Marathoning has improved my health, allowed my family to have some wonderful memories, and given me the courage to persevere.
My coach introduced me to the 26.2 Foundation and their mission to build a marathoning center right at the Boston Marathon start line. For me this a perfect cause and a way to give back to the race that helped get me through my 30s and into my 40s.
So, I am closing with a request for a donation to help the 26.2 Foundation build a great institution to the race that I have grown to love. Please donate and cheer me as I tackle Boston 2 Big Sur!

ROBIN running

Hi all! Here we are again!

As I type, this, I finished my second time around the Chicago Marathon course (marathon #13) in October and New York #4 (marathon #14) in November. Tokyo in March and London next April!

With your help, we can support funding vital specialist research and give children their best chance to survive. I might not be in the classroom or have children of my own, but I AM motivated to help fight childhood cancers through research, better treatments, and support to families!

With your support Children with Cancer UK can fund research projects across the UK accelerating breakthroughs to help drive up childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects. This ground breaking research saves children’s lives and would otherwise go unfunded.

Knowing treatment can be especially challenging for family life, Children with Cancer UK also helps fund patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children’s treatment. CwCUK also organises unforgettable days out for children and their families to create memories that will never be lost.

With your support, we are helping to create a future in which every child with cancer survives and experiences the life changing moment when they ring the end of treatment bell. Thank you for helping to save the lives of children with cancer and keep families together!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Children with Cancer UK.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

*Race Lucie is running – London Marathon 2020 – April 26, 2020

Lucie Bloom.jpg

I have decided to fundraise for Smile Train to help give smiles to children in need. Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate.

Millions of children with clefts around the world live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Smile Train’s sustainable model provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities.

With your help, we can save these children and give them the life-changing surgery they both need and deserve.

Thank you for supporting my fundraiser with Smile Train – together we can change the world one smile at a time!

*Race Jes is running – London Marathon 2020 – April 26, 2020

JES W Running.jpg

“Why run another marathon, have you gone crazy, Jes?” I know that’s what most of you who know me are thinking… WHY NOT? Is my response, especially when I can pay it forward to an incredible organization like Tuesday’s Children while participating in one of the six Marathon Majors of the World. I generally aim to live my life with that approach, ‘why not?’, because I (unfortunately) know well that tomorrow isn’t promised. I will be running the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon in loving memory of my Dad, Jimmy “Doc” Waring who lost his young life in the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Completing this race will undoubtly be an exciting achievement; I am honored to run for an important cause which was my unfortunate reality as a teenager – the sudden loss of a loved one to terrorism. Please take a moment to read my story.

London 2020 marks my THIRD marathon and I will earn my third Abbott World Marathon Major star! Thank you to Tuesday’s Children for this incredible once in a lifetime opportunity. This race is one of the many opportunities that Tuesday’s Children has offered me over the last 18 years and I am happy give back to an organization which has helped me grow tremendously.

Tuesday’s Children, is a non-profit organization that my family has been involved with for 18 years as a participant in programs offered to 9/11 family members. I have co-chaired the Junior Board for 3 years and have been a member for 6 years. I continue to be involved because I know the world needs an organization like Tuesday’s Children to offer its services to communities and military families in need.

I have no doubt that my Dad will help push me through another 26.2. Growing up, he was the biggest cheerleader for my three sisters and I; he always made sure we knew how proud he was to be our Dad. I can vividly remember his voice cheering my name at every swim meet, softball game and dance recital growing up; he was the type to make his presence known. I am certain that our endeavors and accomplishments as adults would be no different. I know I am making him proud by doing good as part of his legacy. Please help me in supporting this cause!

I will also dedicate this race to those suffering from 9/11 related illness, the innocent victims globally who have lost lives or suffered injury due to terrorism and our U.S. military who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I run for their resilient family members. While running the streets of London, I will especially remember the victims of: the 2019 London Bridge attack, the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, the 2017 Westminister Bridge/Parliament attack and the 2005 London Underground transit bombings.

*Fundraising for The Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation

*Race Kayla is running -Chicago Marathon 2020 – October 11, 2020

KAYLA w medal

2020  is  a  BIG  year  for  me!  It  will  be  my  25th  year  as  a  survivor  of  a  pediatric brain  tumor.  I’ve  lived  a  life  where  I  was  constantly challenged  through  treatments  that  included surgery  and  radiation,  late-term  effects like  epilepsy,  imbalances  to  my  thyroid  and  adrenal  glands  that  I  still take  medications for  daily,  not  to  mention the  emotional  impact  that  having  a  brain  tumor  has  on  a  child.

I  came  to  the  Children’s  Brain  Tumor  Foundation  in  2011  as  a  young  adult  looking  for  support.  I  went  to  their  Heads  Up  Conference,  a  6-day  retreat  in  Montana  specifically for  brain  tumor  survivors.  I  had  never  traveled  outside  the  east  coast  before  and  this  was  a  really  big  deal.  I  went  with  the  hope  of  having  a  great  week  away  where  I  could  meet  other  survivors  like  myself.  Now  almost 9  years  later,  here  I  am  THRIVING  as    a  very  active  adult  with  CBTF  and  the  people  I  met  as  a  key  part  of  my  life.  I’ve  been  working  for  them  for  8  years  and  am  able  to  help  other  survivors  have  the  same  experiences I  did  almost  a  decade  ago.

NOW  it’s  time  to  celebrate 25  years  of  survivorship.  I’ve  taken  on  challenges no  one  would  ever  want  to  take but  I  should  count  myself  lucky  because  I’m  able  to  take  on  challenges  I  choose  to  –  such  as  running  multiple marathons in  one  year!  The  plan  is  to  run  in  Berlin  and  Chicago.  That  means  that  by  the  end  of  the  year,  I’ll  have  completed  half  of  the  Abbott  World  Marathon Majors  (having  already  ran  NYC  in  2018  ans  2019),  the  6  most  sought  after  marathons  in  the  world.  I’m  raising  money  to  support  CBTF  as  a  part  of  my  adventure  to  Chicago  and  hope  you  will  consider  supporting  me!  The  impact  they’ve  had  on  my  and  others  lives  is  indescribable but  I’m  hoping  having  read  my  story  gives  you  an  idea  of  why  they  are  so  important  to  me!

The mission of CBTF is to improve the treatment, quality of life and the long-term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education, and advocacy to families and survivors. CBTF is the national leader in Quality of Life services to children, families, and survivors of pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors. They work across the country to help families who are facing brain or spinal cord tumor diagnosis and work closely with survivors through young adulthood – because everyone deserves a meaningful and productive life. They host summer camps, weekend gatherings, and online chats and meetings, among many other efforts. They also support research into the causes and treatments of brain tumors – all with a goal of providing real answers and genuine hope. Please contact Kayla Giacin at kgiacin@cbtf.org for more information or to register.

*Fundraising for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital

*Race Sandra is running -Chicago Marathon 2020 – October 11, 2020

I am a St. Jude Hero! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.

Did you know:

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.

*Fundraising for PROJECT AWARE

*Race Kees is running – Chicago Marathon 2020 – October 11, 2020

As many of you know, I run, and I dive.  Or I dive, and I run.  Which ever order that goes in.  Point is, I’m outside, both above and below the water line, enjoying all that is beautiful to watch.

In my 20 years of diving the globe, things have changed.  Coral reefs have suffered, fish populations have dwindled.  Especially the sharks.  Where there used to be sharks on most of my dives, I hardly see any more.  #ProjectAware is trying to combat this, and in 2020 I will run both the Chicago and NYC Marathon campaigns in their honor.

As a time qualifier for Chicago, I do not have a fundraising minimum, but if anyone has a charity budget, I would appreciate anything you have available.   The reefs and fish thank you as well.  Below is more information from #TeamOcean:

Share the underwater impacts of pollution through data collection and reporting to influence policy
Reduce the amount of pollution in the ocean
Save marine life from the detrimental impacts of pollution
Pollution is the one of the overarching stressors currently impacting the health of our ocean and it affects us all. Marine debris is currently one of the biggest sources of pollution and it’s believed that over 800 different species have been impacted by marine debris through ingestion or entanglement!
To tackle the issue we are working at a national, multinational and international level in order to:
Your involvement is critical to success for our ocean. Please help us raise $30,000 for strategic action to remove and report debris in areas most at risk.
Thank you for taking action to realize the vision of a clean and healthy ocean.

*Fundraising for PAWS CHICAGO

*Race Alejandro is running – Chicago Marathon 2020 – October 11, 2020

2019 was a monumental year as I took on the journey of 21 marathons in a single year, increasing my lifetime count to 28. This year will be full of new experiences as I continue towards my goal of achieving 100 marathon finishes before I turn 35 as well as my new goal of achieving a sub-3:40 marathon.

PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities – starting with a No Kill Chicago – where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized per year in Chicago has dropped more than 80 percent. In 2016, PAWS Chicago found loving homes for more than 5,100 homeless pets. But there is more work to be done and your generosity is crucial to this effort.

Please consider supporting me by making a donation and helping PAWS Chicago provide vital medical care, food and shelter to thousands of homeless pets this year. PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago’s homeless animals.

Your support will allow us to build a truly humane and compassionate community, one pet at a time. Please consider donating to my cause.

If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing my page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity.

Thank you for your support!
